The Opportunity
The Senior Workday Financials Administrator is a key member of Catalina’s Financial Systems team, responsible for ensuring that global financial applications operate with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This role provides subject matter expertise in Workday Financials, executing complex configurations, integrations, and reporting solutions that support Finance leadership and business objectives. The position contributes directly to system enhancements, ongoing projects, and adoption of Workday releases while enabling users and team members through knowledge-sharing and best-practice execution. Success in this role is measured by reliable system performance, effective collaboration, and measurable improvements to Catalina’s financial operations.
Resolve Workday Financials help tickets by analyzing, troubleshooting, and delivering accurate solutions within SLA to maintain system reliability and positive user experience.
Lead the adoption of Workday bi-annual release features by performing fit/gap analyses, configuring and testing enhancements, and driving user training to ensure effective and timely adoption.
Actively contribute to ongoing financial systems projects by gathering requirements, executing configurations, and delivering solutions that align with Catalina’s business objectives.
Configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Financials modules (Procurement, Expenses, Assets, Banking, Supplier/Customer Contracts) to align functionality with global accounting and compliance requirements.
Develop and deliver advanced Workday reports, dashboards, and discovery boards that provide Finance leadership with timely insights into balance sheets, income statements, and complex intercompany transactions.
Design, test, and manage integrations between Workday Financials and 3rd party/proprietary systems (Ascend, Appzen, Xignite, Ceridian Tax Services) to ensure seamless data flows and compliance with GAAP and European standards.
Execute and oversee user acceptance testing for Workday releases and enhancements by coordinating with stakeholders, validating compliance, and ensuring smooth system adoption.
Document and resolve metadata, security group, and business process issues raised by users while maintaining system integrity and sharing knowledge with the team to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to manage upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and ensure delivery timelines and contractual obligations are consistently met.
Prepare and submit timely, accurate responses to external auditor requests related to IT and financial system controls, demonstrating compliance with GAAP and internal standards.
Identify and implement process improvements by analyzing existing configurations, recommending best practices, and executing enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and adoption.
Build trust with business users and team members by providing clear communication, proactive knowledge-sharing, and consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.
Enable business users and junior team members by designing training, conducting workshops, and sharing expertise to increase Workday knowledge and reduce support dependency.
Support Catalina’s multinational operations by configuring Workday to manage multiple currencies, intercompany transactions, and European reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and accuracy in global reporting.
Leverage advanced Workday tools such as Prism Analytics and Adaptive Planning (where applicable) to deliver enhanced financial insights that improve decision-making and forecasting accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in financial systems administration, with at least 5 years of direct, hands-on experience configuring, testing, and optimizing Workday Financials modules (Core Financials, Procurement, Expenses, Assets).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Trial Balances, to validate reporting accuracy in Workday.
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and working knowledge of IFRS, with the ability to design Workday configurations and reports that support both U.S. and multinational reporting requirements.
Experience supporting multinational operations, including consolidations across multiple ledgers, multi-currency environments, and complex intercompany transactions.
Solid understanding of core Finance processes and operations (Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Treasury, and Banking) with the ability to configure and support these workflows in Workday Financials.
Proven ability to configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Financials integrations with third-party systems (e.g., Ascend, Appzen, Xignite, Ceridian Tax Services) using tools such as Studio, Cloud Connect, and APIs.
Demonstrated expertise in developing advanced Workday reports, dashboards, and discovery boards that provide Finance leadership with actionable insights.
Proficiency in Excel with the ability to perform advanced analysis, reconciliations, and validation of Workday outputs.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to resolve complex issues independently and sustainably.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes, explain technical concepts, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Proven track record of contributing to financial systems projects, including requirements gathering, configuration execution, user acceptance testing, and adoption of Workday release features.
Commitment to knowledge-sharing and user enablement, with experience training business users and mentoring team members to increase Workday proficiency and adoption of best practices.
