Our Team

The Retail Analytics team is responsible for providing analyses, insights and recommendations that address the business needs of the Catalina retail and digital sales team and/or the retail end-clients, in support of internal strategic projects and external retailers.  These analyses, insights and recommendations—whether based on standard reports or custom analyses—should serve as the basis for discussions with the retail sales team and client, provide actionable insights and recommendations that address client strategies, initiatives, and objectives. 

The Contract position reports to the Senior Director of Retail Analytics Development. 


  • Achieve the Retail Analytics Development team objectives for automation and streamlining of ShareBuilder, a customer loyalty program, pre, inflight and post campaign development and measurement processes by … 

  • Applying strong programing and data engineering skills to implement machine learning algorithm in production to accelerate new capabilities.

  • Converting the current SAS processes to open-source codes.

  • Working closely with the Senior Director and Senior Analytic Consultant (SAC) of Retail Analytic development department as well as with key cross-functional stakeholders from Catalina Product and Data Enterprise/Engineering teams.


  • Providing statistical expertise and technical support for consolidation and development of statistical modeling and clustering solutions, which will lead to improved shopper marketing strategy and campaign performances.

  • Development of a data driven promotional category selection process implementation.

  • Automate a GUI offer simulator / application that creates offer plan.

  • Create a forecast process that predict relevant KPI costs based on key elements of offers and IDs rolled up to clusters that result in accurate predictions.

  • Work with data engineering to automate submission processes covering offers and clusters for CMP ingestion.

  • Create a results database covering important KPIs.

  • Enable ad hoc custom analyses to support proof of concept / forecast of offer plans.


  • Providing analytical and technical support to the initiation and development of ShareBuilder dashboard, to measure campaign performance by KPI (e.g. distribution, redemption, etc.) and optimize/tailor offers to targets.

  • Enable a process to reference KPIs from results database for benchmarking.


  • Develop measurement process and code written in open-source language (Python/R) to show lift and incrementality by cluster.

  • Create a validation process that fully vets all/exact same result as SAS. 

  • Create a close loop process of important campaign output KPIs for storage in Catalina system.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Math, Economics, Marketing Research or other quantitative oriented fields (Decision Sciences, etc.) required.

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Math, Economics, Marketing Research or other quantitative oriented fields (Decision Sciences, etc.) preferred.

  • 5-10 years of experience for Bachelor’s or 1-2 years of experience for Master’s in a CPG, retail or data-driven environment required.

  • Solid experience and knowledge of mathematical/statistical modeling.

  • Extensive understanding on quantitative methods and statistical applications.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using statistical software packages SAS in a quantitative, analytical capacity required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience on analytical solution development or analytics process automation required.

  • Proficient/Advanced coding with opensource tools such as Python/R required.

  • Extensive experience with relationship database and SQL required.

  • Good communication skills.

Preferred additional Skills

  • Master’s degree, PhD preferred, in Statistics, Math, Economics, Marketing Research or other quantitative oriented fields (Decision Sciences, etc.) preferred.

  • Experience in implementing machine learning algorithms in production environment using DataBricks/Scala/PySpark a plus.

  • Experience with cloud computing and usage a plus.
