Our Team

The Data Engineering team defines and builds the core capabilities that the Catalina Products and Data Solutions leverage in market. We build capabilities once and re-use across our solution suites. The team provides the data which is used to extract insight and drive our market models to provide value to our clients.

Catalina is seeking an Executive Director Data Engineering to lead the development of our new Data platform by developing cutting edge, data-driven solutions for retailer and CPG customers. This is a great opportunity for a passionate leader with experience in digital marketing technology and a desire to launch innovative ad tech solutions. The successful candidate possesses strategic thinking skills, a passion for product development and a proven background developing new products and scaling existing ones. This position requires an engaging, innovative and collaborative approach. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other leaders across multiple functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional core stakeholders, to lead data direction, facilitate key technical decision points, and take the software specifications into working product outcomes

  • Interface with multiple technology groups, who are responsible for developing the infrastructure and software products that are used to build and operate our service delivery platforms

  • Lead the development of data solutions using the following tool/technologies (HDFS/ Azure Data lake, Hive, Databricks, Spark(Scala), Azure tool suite (Data Factory, EventHub, Azure Devops), and other open source technologies) resulting in stable and high-quality code within deadlines, following established process.

  • Ability to commit to road maps with capabilities and timelines, with a proven track record for timely, cost-effective and quality deliverables

  • Align technology to business strategy, and proactively drive a technical direction throughout the organization

  • Manage multiple teams consisting of both contract and full time employees and senior level technical individuals

  • Document and comply with processes following a mix of agile and other applicable methodologies

  • Partners with internal organization and vendors to develop multi-year roadmaps influencing the direction and evolution of the operating environment and support protocols

  • Advocates for change across the organization. Ensures the implementation of change with appropriate communications, goals, resources, metrics, and reviews.

  • Directly manages geographically dispersed global engineering teams comprised of both Catalina employees and 3rd party vendors

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of data ecosystem and trends; be a subject matter expert and thought leader.

  • Actively participate in SCRUM ceremonies ensuring the velocity of the team continues to improve and work becomes more streamlined.

  • Support production environment and previously deployed solutions.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends, tools and technologies keeping innovation at the forefront

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent; minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with at least 10 years of supervisory experience.

  • Marketing Technology, Advertising Technology, Loyalty program experience helpful but not required.

  • Demonstrated experiences in reporting and management of complex organizations through utilization of appropriate metrics / tools.

  • Experienced with hosting and operating high performance systems including their infrastructure, service levels, in both hosted and cloud environments

  • Strong leadership and experience sourcing, overseeing, and managing vendors

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment with multiple assigned products and projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to relate technical issues to non-technical leadership and staff.

  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.

  • Strong Project Management with track record of on-time, on budget and high-quality implementations.

  • Ability to attract, retain, engage and develop teams in a fast-paced, transformational environment

  • Ensure there is a focus on accountability and performance, with clear line of sight between organization strategy and individual goals

  • 9-12+ years experience with Data Solution on cloud technology (HDFS/ Azure Data lake, Hive, Databricks, Spark(Scala), Azure tool suite (Data Factory, EventHub, Azure Devops)

  • 9-12+ years experience with Linux/Unix Systems, scripting.

  • 9-12+ years experience with RDBMS and DWH Solutions (Netezza, Yellowbrick, Snowflake, Synapse)

  • Able to mentor fellow co-workers to expand overall team skills.

  • Positive attitude towards challenges.

  • Ability to attract, retain, engage and develop teams in a fast-paced, transformational environment
